Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) and Wave Soldering
With decades of experience in advanced PCB assembly technology, KUS provides advanced prototyping and manufacturing using Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Wave Soldering services. Learn why KUS is the perfect SMT assembly manufacturer for all of your printed circuit board needs.
SMT Assembly Manufacturing
KUS is an SMT assembly manufacturer equipped to carry out the reflow-soldering process, and we typically use this soldering technique for serial orders. Using nitrogen atmosphere, heated air, and soldering paste, we fuse PCB components and permanently affix them to the board.
We also provide vapor-phase soldering for our customers’ PCB prototypes and complex components. This process involves heating printed circuit boards to the soldering paste melting point. This allows us to solder at lower temperatures or solder different SMT components at different temperatures depending on their individual soldering temperature profiles.
Beyond soldering processes, it is also important to choose an SMT assembly manufacturer that performs AOI and Visual checks before PCB orders are sent back to customers. KUS executes these inspections to ensure that every product we manufacture is an example of quality craftsmanship. If we find any irregularities or imperfections during these final checks, we then correct the mistake or pull the board from the machine for further inspection.
Wave Soldering
Wave soldering refers to the bulk soldering process used to manufacture printed circuit boards. At KUS, our facilities are well-equipped to produce wave soldering orders in high quantities. Discover how our capabilities as a printed circuit board manufacturer can serve your needs.
Environmental Compliance for Wave Soldered Products
KUS not only is able to produce high-quality printed circuit boards with our wave soldering capabilities, we are also able to meet strict environmental and performance requirements. A common compliance requirement includes restrictions on lead when RoHS compliance is required, which is why we offer the option of a lead-free process that meets these standards. As a company dedicated to manufacturing excellence, we also maintain a dust-free workshop and produce our electronic components in accordance with IPC 3 standard control.
Advantages of Wave Soldering
Wave soldering is more advantageous than many other PCB manufacturing techniques due to it being an automated process. Not only is it a significantly faster process, wave soldering also typically creates a higher quality product than manual soldering of components.
Wave soldering can be used for both through-hole printed circuit and surface mount applications, and KUS is capable of manufacturing for both types of assemblies. In the latter case, the components are glued by the placement equipment onto the printed circuit board surface before being run through the molten solder wave.
